Yochanon perek א , pasukim א-יח, לד teach that the Word of pasuk א is the eternal Ben-Elokim who became flesh (pasuk יד ) to reveal to us the true character of Hashem (pasuk יח ) and to give all men the light of life (pasuk ד ). Pasuk יב is very important because it tells us exactly how to become children of ha-Kodesh Baruch-Hu. Think about this!

Maybe the idea of ha-Kodesh Baruch-Hu having a son is still a difficult concept for you to accept or understand, but as we go through Besorat Yochanon, we will see many places where Yochanon shows Yeshua to be Ben ha-Elokim. For the moment, let us consider the words of the Tenach in Mishlei perek ל posek ד :

“Who has ascended into heaven and ruled?

Who has gathered the wind in his fists?

Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment?

Who has established all the ends of the earth?

What is his name, and what is his son’s name?

Surely, you know.”

The writer of Mishlei dares us to answer his questions. Obviously he knows that ha-Kodesh Baruch-Hu has a son and that it is important for us to find out the name of that son.
